Welcome From The Chancellor

I am pleased to welcome current and prospective industry partners to UC San Diego’s Office of Corporate Relations. The office connects the corporate community with the university’s stellar faculty, researchers and students to ensure that our partners meet their recruiting, research and philanthropic objectives at UC San Diego.

At UC San Diego, one of the nation’s most accomplished research universities, the search for knowledge is of primary importance. Innovation occurs on campus and with those in industry to create new discoveries and train the next generation of leaders.

The campus contributes more than $7.2 billion in direct and indirect spending and personal income each year to the California economy and generates 39,000 jobs, according to an independent study conducted by CBRE Consulting based on FY 2006-07 data. Our alumni and faculty have created at least 193 start-up companies, including many of our local biotech businesses. In California, these companies employ more than 17,000 people and generate more than $10 billion in annual sales.
